This blog is in honor of my mother, Christa. She emigrated with my father from a post-war Germany to the US in hopes of finding a better life here. I am her first born. She worked hard throughout her lifetime and taught me many things including how to sew, garden and cook in the old way. She loved art, both the fine arts and homemade crafts. She painted and wrote poetry. The life of an immigrant is hard but she did well. In April of 2011 at the age of 77, she finally succumbed to pancreatic cancer. After a small memorial here in Denver, her ashes were sent back to the rest of her family in Germany where she was interred in the beautiful family plot with her parents, a nephew, and now her youngest brother, my uncle, to whom cancer also made a visit in 2012.
I hope that by sharing the knowledge she shared with me here on this blog, that I can honor her talent, craftsmanship and memory. I am Judy - Christa's Daughter.
